The terminal stages of catabolism usually leads to complete
removal of most metabolites from the common pathways in the
form of CO2 plus H2O plus NH4+ and some other nitrogenous
bases.Anabolism also provides a constant drain on the pools
of the intermediates of the common pathways. Thus,provides
must be made for their replenishment by some subordinate or
ancillary routes which are termed as ANAPLEROTIC.These
routes involve the insertion of 1-CO2 (such as CO2) or a
2-carbon (such as acetyl-CoA) fragment into the common
pool.
