Disproving the Theory of spontaneous Generation
The germ theory states that microorganisms are responsible for causing disease. This theory was initially not widely accepted; instead many people believed that this disease was caused by demons or was punishment for wrongdoing. In addition, up until the second half of the nineteenth century, it was believed that certain forms of life could arise spontaneously from non living matter. Life, it was thought could spontaneously emerge in favorable environments such as moist soil, manure and decaying corpses.
