Male Reproductive System:
External Genitalia:
• Penis
o Corpora cavernosa (on the side, far away from the body)
o Corpus spongiosum (in the middle, far away from the
body)
o Glans (tip)
o Bulbus (in the middle, closest to the body)
o Crus (in the middle, closest to the body)
• Urethra to Penis:
o Urethra
o Pars Prostatica
▪ Causes trouble with older man
• Pars membranacea
• Pars Spongiosa
• Scrotum; skin → dartos muscle → superficial scrotal fascia (fascia
spermatica externa)→ cremaster muscle → tunica vaginales
• Testis; tunica albuginea, seminiferous tubule, rete testis, efferent
testis (tussen rete testis and head of epididymis)
• Epididymis (head + body = facilitates functional maturation tail =
stores spermatozoa)
• Spermatic cord (=funiculus permaticus); ductus deferens, a.
Ductus deferentis, a. Testicularis, plexus pampiniformis (v.
Testicularis), n. Genitofemroalis (r. Genitalis), a. Cremasterica and
v. Cremasteria. Lympf vessels and autonomic nerves.
Internal Genitalia;
Ducts; epididymis → ducts deferences (vas deference) (goes through
abdominal wall via inguinal canal to dorsal side bladder) → ampulla
of ductes deferens → ejaculatory duct → prostatic urethra →
membranous urethra → spongy urethra
Glands;
• Seminal vesicles (zaadblaasjes); most of total volume of
semen (60%). Contain fructose, prostaglandins and fibrinogen
→ movement spermatozoa
• Prostate gland; A lot of volume (20%). Secrete acidic
prostate fluid → movement spermatozoa
• Bulbourethral gland (Cowper); secrete alkaline mucus with
lubricating properties → neutralize acids in uthera
