Camps Bay High School is located in a beautiful, urban area. The school is
well resourced, has the required resources, facilities, teaching aids, in order
to after a rich diversity of activities to develop the learners to their full
potential. The school also has the most amazing view and is close to all
amenities..
Camps Bay High School is a well-resourced public school in an urban area.
The buildings are well maintained and new buildings as well as
improvements to old buildings are added yearly. The school has a lot of
support systems for learners from poor backgrounds. There are many extra
facilities, a nutritious but inexpensive cafeteria, fully equipped computer
centres and tutor-classes after school.

Reflection: Why is the school context important? How would this influence
your task as a teacher?
The School context, surrounding milieu, made up of economic, cultural,
political and historical factors, community and organisational issues,
people’s theories and world views, as well as space, time and resources
available in the classroom, is very important to us, as teachers. It will
influence the approach to and interpretation of the curriculum. It is
therefore inevitable that curriculum development is a never ending process
of reflection and change. A positive school context will thus assist in
contributing to a positive learning and teaching experience in the classroom
and at the school.
The teacher is ultimately dependant on the school. The resources offered
and the support of the community are very important support structures for
teachers. These influence the quality of teaching, the ease of teaching, the
care of the students etc.
