The Workings of a Family System This paper will discuss the concepts of the family system and how they are incorporated into the Kim family’s familial system. According to Metcalf (2018), “In al l families, each family member is part of the family system, sending out and receiving communication” (p. 9). The family system can vary from household to household. Though family systems may vary, each system consists a common feature: a set of interacting parts that with and influence each other (Dallos & Draper, 2015, p. 33). The Kim family consists of three people: Layla, age 26, her mother Meilina, age 63, and her father Ben, age 59. The family comes from an Asian background and are currently living in Northern California.
