Body Planes Terms
• Plane: Flat surface along which body or
structure is cut for anatomical study
• These planes are imaginary lines that are drawn
through an upright body. These lines are either
vertical, diagonal or horizontal.

• Midsagittal (median) plane
• Lies on midline
• Divides body vertically into right and left parts
• Parasagittal plane
• Not on midline
• The midsagittal (or median) plane, cuts the body perfectly in
while the parasagittal planes are off-center, running to the rig
or left of the body's midline.
