Health and Safety legislations
Document:

Legislations we follow:
There are three legislations that we follow; The Health and Safety at Work etc Act(HASAWA),
the Control of Substances Hazardous to Health regulations (COSHH) and Reporting of Injuries,
Diseases and Dangerous Occurrence Regulations (RIDDOR). To maintain a safe working
environment and guarantee the safety of workers and employers, we are obliged to follow all
three.

The Health and Safety at Work etc Act:

This act was launched in 1974. This legislation protects peoples’ safety and welfare while at
work. [1] This act covers staff training and to make them understand the procedures we go
through to protect workers. The working environment should be properly maintained and cared
for to guarantee the safety of both employers and employees. The facilities provided are all
there to make sure that all workers have the access to break rooms, washing facilities and other
things like safe routes, equipment and others.

Control of Substances Hazardous to Health:

This act was enforced between the years1989 and 2002. It tells employers that they should
protect their employees and make an effort to make sure that the working environment is health
friendly and should be comfortable to work in without any further issues due to substances such
as dust, chemicals, soot, fumes and other harmful substances. [2] The Control of Substances
Hazardous to Health requires all employers to assess risks if there are any while using any
substances and make plans and put protocols in place, just in case major spillages or any other
deathly or harmful situations occur. We should also control the amount of exposure employers
and employees are receiving each time, for the safety of everyone and to lower the hazards of
getting injured as well as provide staff with training and information on how to handle these
