LOCAL GOVERNMENT IN INDIA
Introduction

● Constitutional status given through the 73rd and 74th Amendments (1992).
Two Types of Local Government
1. Rural Local Government – Panchayati Raj (73rd Amendment)
2. Urban Local Government – Municipalities (74th Amendment)

● Head: Sarpanch
● Members elected by the Gram Sabha
● Works for basic needs of village
