Week 9
Computer data conversion
, What is Computer Data Conversion?
Data Conversion involves changing data from one physical environment
format to another.
Data Conversion is the conversion of computer data from one format to
another.
There are many ways in which data is converted within the computer
environment.
Types of file or data conversions
Here is a list of the most common type of file conversions:
1. Words (.docx to .pdf)
2. Image (.jpg to .png)
3. Audio (.mp3 to .AAC)
4. Video (.mp4 to .3gp)
5. Archive (such as RAR to ZIP, or 7Z to TAR)
6. Document (such as DOCX to DOC, or TXT to RTF)
7. Presentation (such as PPTX to PPT, or ODP to SWF)
8. E-Book (such as MOBI to TXT, or PRC to EPUB)
9. Image (such as BMP to GIF, or PNG to JPG)
10. Audio (such as MP3 to M4A, or AAC to WAV)
11. Video (such as AVI to MP4, or MPEG to 3PG)
12. Database (such as NSF to PST)
13. Other (such as EPS to GIF, or PSD to JPG)
Definition of Terms:
(i) Register
(ii) Address
(iii) Bus
1. WHAT IS REGISTER?
A Register is a special high-speed storage area within the Central Processing
Unit (CPU).
