1. Aortic: Right 2nd intercostal space
2. Pulmonic: left 2nd intercostal space
3. Erb's Point: left 3rd intercostal space
4. Tricuspid: lower left sternal border, 4th intercostal
5. Mitral: left 5th intercostal, medial to midclavicular line
6. S1: LUB
Tricuspid & Mitral valves close, beginning of systole
7. S2: DUB
Pulmonic & Aortic Valves close, end of systole, beginning of diastole
8. Blood goes: in through right atrium, goes back to heart for oxygenation
9. SA Node: pacemaker of the heart, electrical force starts here
10. P wave: SA node fires, atria depolarize and contract
11. QRS complex: impulse from av node through bundle of his to purkinje fibers
12. T wave: ventricular repolarization
13. S-T segment: The heart's resting period
14. If EKG paper is off: 1st Check the patient
15. NSR:
18. PVCs:
19. v-tach:
20. v-fib:
21. Asystole:
22. sinus bradycardia: check pt
check & see what meds they are on (dig & beta can drop it)
, 23. Asymptomatic Sinus bradycardia: No tx, just monitor 24. Symptomatic sinus bradycardia s/s: decreased bp clammy
diaphoretic
dizzy decreased
loc chest pain
25. Symptomatic sinus bradycardia tx: IV Atropine (anticholinergic)
If unsuccessful, pacemaker
26. pacemaker: done in cath lab slide in under pouch of skin
electronically set before go in & stitch
27. pacemaker post op: bruising
soreness (can use icepack)
do not life arm above head (can use sling so don't forget)
28. Atrial flutter: top is shaking
SA node is coming to fast (not getting to refill)
29. Atrial flutter s/s: SOA dizzy
HA
drop in pressure
30. atrial flutter uncontrolled: can cause clot & stroke
31. atrial flutter tx: Control ventricular hr with calcium channel blockers, dig, beta blockers
32. hemodynamically unstable: Not dropping pressure, electric cardioversion is immediately done regardless of duration
33. Why PVC: came to early, skipped SA node & started at AV node
34. PVC causes: hypokalemia
35. PVC tx: no tx with having every now & then check K & mag
36. Ventricular Tachycardia: Nothings happening in top of the heart, pumping from AV node down
37. Life threatening EKG: v-tach
38. Ventricular tachycardia tx: needs shock to try to get back to rhythm 39. steps with v-tach: check pt
sit & talk, watch & check bp
40. v-fib: Full blown cardiac arrest bottom part
of the heart is just quivering 41 steps with v-fib:
