, EMBRYLOGY OF THYROID
o It is developed from endodermal cells of floor of pharynx
o It begins a diverticulum at dorsum of tongue between tuberculum
impar and hypobranchial eminence
o The thyroid diverticulum elongates and forms thyroglossal duct
o The thyroglossal duct develops from the median bud of the pharynx.
o The thyroglossal duct elongates downwards in front of hyoid and
thyroid cartilage where it ends dividing into 2 parts
o Ultimobranchial body gives parafollicular cells to thyroid gland
