1. Nutrition
Nutrition is the process by which organisms obtain food for energy, growth, and repair.

Types of Nutrition

a) Autotrophic Nutrition

 Organisms prepare their own food.
 Example: Green plants

b) Heterotrophic Nutrition

 Organisms depend on other organisms for food.
 Example: Humans and animals




2. Respiration
Respiration is the process of breaking down food to release energy.

, Types of Respiration

a) Aerobic Respiration

 Occurs in the presence of oxygen
 Produces more energy

b) Anaerobic Respiration

 Occurs without oxygen
 Produces less energy

Glucose + Oxygen → Carbon Dioxide + Water + Energy




3. Transport
Transport is the movement of substances inside the body.

In Plants

 Xylem transports water and minerals
 Phloem transports food

In Humans

 Blood transports oxygen and nutrients
 Heart pumps blood to the body
