Views the client as an “open system that responds to stressors in the
environment” (Gonzalo, 2011). The client’s core is protected by a
line of resistance, and if that line is broken by stressors, then the
client’s outcome is based on their defense mechanisms. Nursing
interventions include primary, secondary, and tertiary prevention. If
the patient is treated holistically, then the core will likely be
restored. The key is to treat the patient in a holistic manner for the
best patient outcome.
