Introduction

Maryland Technology Consultants (MTC) is a consulting firm that uses tried-and-

true IT and management approaches to help clients achieve measurable results. MTC is a

successful IT consulting firm with 450 personnel that was initiated in May 2008 and is

based in Baltimore, Maryland. MTC is known for its excellent business approach, and it

attempts to go above and above.

To be successful in the competitive IT sector, MTC will continue to go above and

beyond in hiring well-qualified individuals to provide the best for their clients. Prior to

recruiting and the interview process, however, one must assess the company to find or

explain changes to the overall hiring system and credentialing processes, as well as the

total development cost. Effective additions to technology services, enhanced safety of

personal client data/information, and streamlining a more efficient hiring process to meet

time-sensitive deadlines are all on the horizon.

I: Strategic use of Technology

A. Business Strategy: MTC has 450 highly skilled employees, but with two major

contracts on the horizon, management estimates that 75 new IT consultants will be

needed in a short period of time to meet this rapid business growth. To achieve this

short-term goal, an improvement on the current manual hiring process is crucial. This

will be done my integrating a new software that is not only compatible with MTC’s

current process but will enhance upon it. It is understood that due to the competitive

nature of IT consulting, MTC will be planning to hire internationally for on-site

locations. The new, cost efficient, automated hiring software will be globally

competent while streamlining the current hiring processes to ensure we onboard the

top talent within the IT field.

B. Competitive Advantage: Maryland Technology Consultants Inc has diversified

its IT-related services to meet the varied consumer choice. The company provides

consultants on-site to work with clients, thereby helping to meet unique client needs.

The company’s workforce comprises highly talented, quality employees. Competition

from small, midsized, and larger companies characterize the IT consulting market.

These include big companies such as Science Applications International Corporation

(SAIC), Booz Allen Hamilton (BAH), and Hewlett-Packard (HP). The numerous

smaller competitors have established customer bases, market niches, and varied skill

sets that make them formidable. Improving the hiring process increases the

competitive advantage of an organization by enabling it to attract the best talent,

retain high-quality talent, increase employee motivation, enhance job satisfaction, and

maintain a workforce that aligns with the strategic goals of the organization (Quirk,

2020).

C. Strategic Objectives: Strategic direction refers to the formulation of plans to

reach goals and vision. "The strategic direction allows the company management to

communicate the significance of employee’s contributions" (Hitt et al, 2016). MTC’s

strategic direction aims to attain strategic positioning by leveraging its core
