Value of studying humanities in the field of health professions Humanities such as art help in improving the nurses’ observation skills. Art requires individuals to take time to observe to unders tand the presented art. Observation skills are essential in nursing since it encourages nurses to engage patients without making any assumptions[ CITATION Mar18 l 1033 ]. A topic such as literature can help my career by challenging me to appreciate different opinions and approaches in my career. For instance, as a nurse, I deal with people from different cultures, religions, beliefs, and opinions. Therefore, I am required to treat my patients while considering their preferences and opinions about certain procedures. Also, a topic such as art helps me to be creative by appreciating diversity just as artists have different strategies and use different colors on a painting to develop an aesthetic painting. One aspect of the humanities that is significant to my personal life includes remaining open to new ideas. For instance, art is illustrated by the capacity of the artist demonstrating unique talent, which presents new ideas. I am able to make decisions and become innovative when puzzled by life experiences. An example, in this case, A Sunday Afternoon on the Island of La Grande Jatte, illustrates numerous people relaxing at a park[ CITATION Rus19 l 1033 ]. The painting has used shade and color to illustrate how people spend their afternoon on that island. The dependence on details helps me to come up with new ideas, which I can translate into creative solutions or strategies. On the other hand, the Mona Lisa is an example of art that illustrates harmony amidst numerous entities, as identified in the painting. In my career, I have learned that despite having different people with different skills and capacities, we can work in harmony and emerge successful in our endeavors.
