1. What are some things you learned about your professor through the personal story
that you would not have known otherwise? Name 5 things.

a. He loved baseball, which drew him closer to God, and he went to Liberty.
b. His father was a believer first, and then his neighbor witnessed to his mother
which led her to get saved.
c. There were many roadblocks, that prevented Professor Carter and his wife
to go overseas to go spread the gospel. And now they are going on a trip to
their field of mission work. This is a God thing!
d. They sold their home, and now they live on campus.
e. He believes that God tricked him into Global Studies, and he took an
internship trip in Central Asia.

2. What are some things you noticed about your professor’s story that pointed back to
God’s greater story?
Professor Carter mentioned that he felt that God called him to go to Liberty University.
His plan was to be a business teacher and coach baseball. However, God had a bigger
plan for him. There was a convo service his freshman year at Liberty, and a missionary
was speaking that day. The missionary that was speaking that day was talking about
Matthew 28 and Professor Carter was drawn to go to the mission field and he went on a
mission trip that year. This story pointed back to God’s greater story because it is
important that we let go and take control and we need to be willing to let God take care
of our future.
3. How has culture impacted your professor’s story?
When Professor Carter called his mom to tell her that he was offered a full-time job at
Liberty, she was not excited for him because people in some of their family members did
not graduate college because of their full-time jobs. This impacted his story because of
the culture of tradition; however, Professor Carter broke the cycle.
4. Consider your own personal story. If you were telling your story to someone, what are 5
key events/experiences you would want to include in your story that would help
someone understand you better? Include a note about why you chose those 5 specific
things.

a. Ever since I was a baby my grandparents took care of me and took me
