NRS 427 VN Week 1 Discussion 2 Consider the different communities to which you belong: 1. What is the geopolitical community in you live? Why is it geopolitical? 2. What is a phenomenological community to which you belong? Why is it a phenomenological community? 3. What would some challenges and benefits be for community health nurses in providing care for different communities? For similar communities? For the same community? What are some possible solutions to the challenges? I live in the Green Bay, WI geopolitical community. More broadly, I live in Brown County, WI. Green Bay is a geopolitical community because it is land locked by other towns/cities, has definitive city limits, and is identifiable on a map. The City of Green Bay has a strong political presence in Brown County with its very own impactful city ordinances. One phenomenological community I belong to is the organization that I work for. My closest group of coworkers share similar views, beliefs, and values. The biggest quality that makes my employer a phenomenological community is sharing goals. Community health nurses face numerous challenges, macro and micro. There is the large challenge of ensuring the health of the population. Thankfully, the socioeconomic status of communities in close geopolitical range share similar goals and beliefs about population health and healthcare in general. But the challenge that a community health nurse might have are individuals in that sense. Individuals may have had negative experiences with healthcare and therefore “bad-mouth” the professionals trying to better the health of the population they’re responsible for. The biggest solution to challenges like this is obviously education and trying to reach out to these people who do not necessarily care for the health of the population. One example is the use of vaccinations. As nurses (and other healthcare professionals) we know that vaccinations don’t cause illness, but sometimes unpleasant symptoms. The community health professionals need to encourage others to share the reasons why interventions like vaccinations are so
