This course requires that you complete an immersion project with a population with whom you are not familiar. The
following populations are acceptable for your immersion project. Please check in your area and find out what specific
populations are available to you for events participation, organization/agency availability, and interviews. This group
should be a different culture than which you identify and must have significantly different cultural features. In
addition, you must have selected a group with whom you have little or no prior experience and cannot use cultural
groups identified in prior cultural immersion experiences. In other words, the cultural group for all parts of this
Cultural Immersion Project must be new for you.
As you consider populations, vulnerable populations such as children and dependent adults will not be approved. As an
example, individuals within populations that could not sign their own informed consent should not be considered.
Here is a sample listing of possible populations that you can consider:
African/African Americans (Including subgroups, e.g. Haitian, other Caribbean, African)
