What is the habenula?

Part of the epithalamus that regulates hunger and thirst.

Where is the premotor cortex and which brains structures are included in this area?

The premotor cortex lies immediately anterior to the primary motor cortex. It includes a dorsal region called the supplementary motor cortex and, lying below it, three major premotor sectors: the dorsal (PMd) and ventral (PMv) premotor cortex and the inferior frontal gyrus (Broca’s area).

What is agrammatism?

People with strokes in Broca’s area are impaired in using verbs and producing appropriate grammar, a symptom known as agrammatism.

What is the geniculostriate pathway?

The major visual pathway running from the retina to the lateral geniculate nucleus (LGN) of the thalamus to the primary visual cortex is the geniculostriate pathway. The geniculate pathway takes part in pattern, colour, and motion recognition and includes conscious visual functions. Symptoms of damage to this system include impairments in pattern, colour, and motion perception as well as visual-form agnosia; the inability to recognise objects.

What is transient global amnesia?

Transient global amnesia can be described as a loss of old memories and an inability to form new ones. The condition is acute, with a sudden onset and usually a short course. It is often the result of a concussion, migraine, hypoglycaemia, epilepsy, or interrupted blood flow.
