Deposition from rivers, Tidal action - forms deep water channels and cuts new ones, Wave action - shifting soils, khals (interconnecting smaller channels) drain the land

What are the challenges in the Sundarbans now?

Coastal flooding, conversion of wetlands into intensive agriculture and settlements, over-exploitation of coastal resources, cyclones, lack of awareness of environmental and economic importance of region

What are the issues with adaptation strategies being used in the Sundarbans?

Infrastructure can't be put on stilts (eg roads) - harder to protect, Relying on smaller range of crops can decrease biodiversity and may increase vulnerability to pests and diseases, Tourism if not properly managed can cause environmental damage, Damage to environment will only exacerbate issues - more adaptation etc, May not be able to afford new crop varieties/have expertise to grow them
