, QUESTION 1
The Kansas law firm experienced two important advantages after introducing trained
non-lawyers to handle routine legal tasks.
The first advantage was reduced costs and improved affordability of services.
Routine legal work such as drafting standard documents, completing forms, and
handling basic administrative matters does not always require a qualified attorney.
By assigning these tasks to trained non-lawyers, the firm lowered salary expenses
and reduced the overall cost of delivering legal services. This made legal assistance
more affordable for clients who might otherwise not have been able to access it.
The second advantage was increased efficiency and productivity. Lawyers were able
to focus on more complex and specialised legal matters that required professional
judgment and expertise. This improved workflow within the firm and allowed more
cases to be handled in less time. As a result, the firm could serve a larger number of
clients while maintaining quality service.

and families. Solutions often involve apology, compensation, or mediation instead of
imprisonment. This approach is effective in rural communities because maintaining
social relationships and unity is highly valued. The system seeks to heal divisions
rather than create further conflict.
A third characteristic is the informal and flexible nature of procedures. Traditional
courts do not follow strict rules of evidence or complex legal procedures. The
