I Joined a Certified Nursing Assistant (CNA) in 2004. one year
after Passing my grades from high school. I later joined to
Ivy tech and started doing pre-requisites for nursing. In 2005
I applied for the practical nursing program and got enrolled
and completed the program in 2006. I achieved a Licensed
Practical Nurse in 2007.
My clinical rotations within the PN program were in the
med-surg unit, ICU, operating room, mother baby, and long-
term care. I took my first nursing job at a long-term care
facility that I did my clinicals called fountain view terrace. I
worked in the dementia area which was a locked area, but it
will forever be one of the highlights of my nursing career.
Since the time I graduated from PN program I have always
been working towards achieving my RN. I got married, had 4
children, but was taking classes that I needed towards RN
degree. I discovered WGU in 2014 and applied to the
program got into the program and had some changes and
setbacks while in this program. After getting pregnant with
my 4th baby I decided to stop the nursing program deciding
I want to enjoy my last pregnancy. Two years went by and
decided to get back into nursing, realigned in the WGU
program and then here I am at the end FINALLY!! So many
years later and the bachelors of nursing is weeks away. My
background for nursing is geriatrics
which I do truly enjoy.
My evidence based practice task will represent my area of
nursing when I research the regards of call systems within
long term care nursing. My community health task will
represent me as a learner and healthcare professional being
