Structure: Elements that works along with the organ / How the Organ is built.
Functions: The body parts job.
Purpose for the Cardiovascular System.
Pumps blood throughout the body to deliver nutrients and oxygen ( Blood )
Picks up waste and carbon dioxide
Structures Involved with the cardiovascular
1. Pulmonary system (Lungs)
Function: Deoxygenated blood goes into the heart to the lungs by picking up O2 & drops
off co 2. Eventually, returning to the heart with oxygenated blood.
2. Systemic circulation (Vessels throughout the body)
Function: Oxygenated blood goes from the start to the rest of the body dropping off o2
for the cells & picks up co2 waste. Returning to the heart as deoxygenated blood.
Cardiac Strucuture
, Endocardium - Inner (Smooth) Layer of the heart
Function: Its ability to remove friction with the blood
Myocardium - Muscle layer (Thick layer)
Function: Contracts to pump blood throughout the body
Epicardium - Outer Layer
Function: Protects the muscle Layer
Pericardium - Thin layer on top of the epicardium (The hearts Sac)
Function: a protective layer for the heart against infection & reduces friction with
lubrication.
