Purpose of the Assessment The purpose of the assessment is to evaluate your ability to: • Analyse the role of the Skills Development Facilitator (SDF) • Evaluate alternative training programmes • Make evidence-based HRD recommendations • Reflect on your learning strategies and academic development Learning outcomes assessed • Analyse the role of the skills development facilitator in the organisation • Apply the phases of the training cycle to an organisational example • Apply a training evaluation model to an example Assessment activities 1. Develop a concept map that explains how the Skills Development Facilitator (SDF) should ensure that Commu-Tech can access mandatory levy-grants. (10) Your concept map must show the relationships between the following elements: • Skills Development Levy payment • SETA • Workplace Skills Plan (WSP) • Annual Training Report (ATR) • Skills needs analysis • Training programmes • Mandatory grants • The organisational outcomes The concept map must: • Contain at least 5 concepts • Include linking phrases • Clearly demonstrate relationships between concepts • Illustrate Commu-Tech’s position 2 Commu-Tech wants to improve the digital and technical competencies of installation technicians and technical support staff. The HRD department has identified the following three possible courses: Use the information in Lesson 3 and in the case study to identify four criteria you should use to determine which ONE of the three training programmes would be most suitable to address Commu-Tech’s need to re-train installation technicians in remote monitoring. (4) Create and complete a decision matrix (see below) using the four criteria you identified above. Use a scale of 0 (does not meet criteria) or 1 (fully meets criteria) to determine the extent to which each training course meets each of the identified evaluation criteria. (6) Evaluation criteria Course 1 Course 2 Course 3 Total Write a report, explaining the process you followed to evaluate the three courses, recommend ONE course for implementation and justify the recommendation you made. The report should contain a table of contents, an introduction, an executive summary, a discussion of the decision matrix, a recommendation supported by evidence, a summary and a list of sources.
