A COI occurs when a psychologist takes on a professional role where
personal/financial/legal interests or relationships might
1) impair our objectivity/competence or
2) expose the person with whom the relationship exists to harm or
exploitation.
Are multiple relationships unethical?
Not unethical as long as they would not be reasonably expected to
cause impairment, harm, or exploitation
What's the difference b/w a court order and a subpoena?
A court order is an action taken by a judge that compels disclosure
unless appealed,
,A subpoena which compels only a response and may be issued by
an attorney
Describe the general procedures for dealing with a psychologist's
potential impairment
If self-identified, the psychologist should terminate, notify in writing,
and help them obtain other services
If suspected, write to the board and include details of the incident →
