The enneagram is a system that determines a persons’ type of personality, showing how
they interact with others and bring in situations around them. The test will show you through a
series of questions what type of personality you have on a scale of 1-9. Each time you take the
test you will have a wing showing another number that you favor a little as well. Sometimes,
depending on your mood, you will gravitate toward the actions and personality types of other
numbers as well.
After taking the test I came to find out I was a 7 on the enneagram. This was actually
pretty comical because I knew a couple of girls my freshman year that told me to take the test
and I just never did. After they had to come to know me well, they would always look at me and
say, “yep he’s definitely a 7”. Little did I know they were spot on. In terms of communication,
my number loves to communicate with lots of energy and high levels of excitedness, in the
texting world, lots of exclamation points! Communicating also comes in the form of a lot of
questions and just a wide range of honest dialogue. We also love telling stories and showing
people how things went, not just telling. We are very personable and will talk your ear off even if
we just met. Sevens are also extremely optimistic and very expressive in their language-
especially when happy.
When it comes to how we prefer to be communicated with, the two things that popped
out to me, were that we love when others are positive and open-minded. People who are closed
off, straight to the point, and negative are not received well. This is true especially when thinking
of how I enjoy being talked to whether it is a serious or easy-going topic. After working many
