Crime Scene Investigation ( sample case 2021)
1. According to the article, who collects the physical evidence at a crime scene such as dried blood and fibers? A CSI. 2. Summarize how an investigation of a crime scene begins. Hint: There are 4 steps discussed. The CSI will first arrive to the scene and makes sure the place is secure. An initial walk through is performed which means the person will look around to see if anything has been moved before they arrived and make a general idea based on their visual examination. The CSI will then start documenting the scene by taking photographs and drawing sketches during a second walk through. Next, the CSI will then start collecting evidence very carefully. They will tag, log, and package it and send it over to the lab. Finally, the crime lab will process all of the evidence that was found in the scene. When the results are in, they will then go to the lead detective working on the case. 3. What does securing the crime scene involve? Securing the crime scene involves creating a physical barrier with crime scene tape or obstacles such as police officers, police cars, or sawhorses.
