, IELTS ACADEMIC PRACTICE TEST – INSTRUCTIONS
General Information
This practice test is designed to simulate the format and difficulty of the IELTS Academic
examination. It consists of three sections: Reading, Writing, and Speaking. The Listening component
is not included.
Time Allocation
Reading: 60 minutes
Writing: 60 minutes
Speaking: 11–14 minutes (optional, can be conducted with a partner or recorded response)
Reading Section
You will read three academic passages.
Each passage is followed by a set of questions.
Question types may include:
o Multiple Choice
o True / False / Not Given
o Sentence Completion
o Short Answer Questions
Write your answers directly on the answer sheet.
You are advised to spend approximately 20 minutes per passage.
No extra time is given to transfer answers.
Writing Section
The Writing test consists of two tasks:
Task 1 (Academic)
You will be presented with a visual input (e.g. graph, chart, table, or diagram).
You must summarise the information and highlight key features.
Minimum word count: 150 words
Task 2 (Essay)
You will write an essay in response to a point of view, argument, or problem.
You must present a clear position, supported with reasons and examples.
Minimum word count: 250 words
