Introduction
Across the world, several news and talks have emerged about progression and creating an
environment where there is equality of rights for all the people. But why does it stop when it
comes to women? Women have tried their best to break away from the existing norms and
standards set by society. (Johnson 9). They have been working hand in hand to fight for their
rights. They have been fighting for their rightful places in the world. Several movements have
tried to smash down centuries of patriarchy. However, these movements are not enough. There is
a long way to go, most notably in organizations where the glass ceiling is still quite prevalent.
For a long time, females have faced a lot of challenges in workplaces. Many women are not up to
par on the same level as men. Most of them are receiving low amounts of payments compared to
men. Despite the efforts taken to improve women's equality, they have been facing a lot of
challenges. Women receive lower incomes compared to men. Sexual harassment and unequal
compensation are the most common challenges women face in the workplace. Discrimination
based on sex is certainly not new in the community and public. However, several legislation and
social values have emerged recently where women's discrimination is illegal and unconscionable
(Johnson 3). Women discrimination is a serious issue because it affects their career development.
Many core reasons are missioned when it comes to discrimination of women in the
workplace. There are also several reasons why they are primarily discriminated against. One of
the primary reasons women are discriminated against is that they are considered weak due to
their physical appearance. In most cases, they are paid eighty percent of what the men make.
