Remain calm

Allow the patient to define the problem that is causing anger or aggression
Identify emotions. Try to understand what is causing the problem and why the
patient is reacting with anger
Ask yourself what the patient may be feeling and verbalize it to the patient. “you
must be feeling pretty…..”
Explore options. This will help the patient regain some sense of control. This may
assist in finding solutions to the problem
Offer positive comments and reassuring words to provide great comfort.
*Agoraphobia, Anergia
Anergia: is marked decrease in energy level
Agoraphobia: anxiety about possible situations (especially open or public places)
in which a panic attack may occur
*Signs and symptoms of depression, bipolar and grieving
S&S of depression:
Hopelessness
Guilt
Fatigue
Anorexia
Weight changes and decreased libido
Crying spells
Irritability
Worry and anxiety
Small tasks seem overwhelming.
S&S of bipolar disorder
First sign is hypomania that last about 4 days with symptoms of gradiosity
Irresponsible and impulsive behavior
Extreme euphoria to delirium
Rapid speech
Flight of ideas
Decreased sleep
