Vsim Pharmacology Scenario 1: Junetta Cooper
Guided Reflection Questions
Opening Questions
How did the simulated experience of Junetta Cooper’s case make you feel?
• It was exciting to be doing a SIM in real time and it put more pressure on thinking fast
which made us forget a few steps.
Tell me the actions you felt went well within this scenario.
• I feel that I had good communication with the patient and felt comfortable asking questions
Reflecting on Junetta Cooper’s case, were there any actions you would do differently if you were to
repeat this scenario? If so, how would your patient care change?
• I forget to read the parameters for the medicatinos so I will be sure to do this in the next sim.
I know better but it was difficult seeing the orders on the board with everything going on
rather than in a quiet Pyxis room with no distractions.
Scenario Analysis Questions1
What priority problem(s) did you identify for Junetta Cooper?
• Chest pain, High BP with headache, and pain
Identify Junetta Cooper’s risk factors specific to cardiovascular disease.
• African American, and HTN
What potential problem could arise from sublingual nitroglycerin therapy, and what teaching should be
included specific to this potential problem?
• Hypotension and headache asverse effects and both create a safety risk related to falls. I would
advise the pt to rise slowly, and keep the bed alarm on. I would also dim the lights and get a
cool ice pack for the patient to help with the headache and monitor vital signs closely.
Discuss the potential synergistic effect(s) of Junetta Cooper’s medication, and identify the potential side
effect this could cause.
