Summary of Speeches
Dr. Martin Luther King's speech introduced the unfairness of how America was
discovered on equality and freedom but then expresses how those have not been demonstrated to
all Americans. When listening to his speech, Dr. King used various delivery methods to express
his message to the crowd that was supporting him in the fight against inequality. His tone of
voice what's strong, soft, monotone, and most of all passionate. In Alicia Garza's speech she talks
about the Black lives matter campaign and the areas of problems surrounding it. Some of these
are gender discrimination, inhumane treatment, racial discrimination, and police brutality. While
these problems have changed and slightly diminished over the past decades, there have been very
present similar problems in America today that have brought attention to a new generation.
Pluralism is a way of looking at American democracy that takes the following form (Greenberg
and Page, 2018). In both speeches from Alicia Garza and Dr. King , the First Amendment free-
speech clause was used as a tool in the Federal Constitution for protecting those rights
(Genevieve, 2021). Although there are many political scientists who feel that interest groups do
not damage democracy but are essential and achieve both good.
Leadership and Charisma
For both speeches Dr. King and Alicia Garza made an impact successfully for what they
were trying to make present at that moment of what was going on in the world. Dr. King used a
minister's preaching style of text to discuss the Civil Rights movements. His famous line of “I
have a dream” is not only a vocal point of his leadership and hope for the future generations, but
a part of all generations since the day of his speech. Those four words have become very
powerful not only to a nation but to a world that has impacted on equality and understanding of
