Introduction
The cultural dimension is used to distinguish characteristics between national cultures. The
majority of the population of a country will have the same national character. One of the most
widely used dimensions of national culture is the model developed by Geert Hofstede. Hofstede
(2011) identified six dimensions of national culture namely power distance, individualism-
collectivism, masculinity-feminity, uncertainty avoidance, long-term-short-term orientation, and
indulgence-restraint.
Cultural comparison provides a window through which the thought and behavior patterns of people
living and working within other societies can be better understood and valuable lessons can be
learned. Before seeking to interact with a multicultural workforce or pursue cross-cultural
negotiation, it is critical to first complete an analysis of the countries represented.
Using social psychologist Geert Hofstede’s cultural dimensions, helps to study in depth at the
differences between Algeria and Morocco culture, specifically as they impact business
engagements, workplace interaction, and intercultural management. It also provides some general
guidelines for conducting cross-cultural negotiations between the two cultures and corporate
management approach might be differ depending on country and diversity. The cultural differences
among ethnic and racial groups can be bridged in a firm to ensure the smooth operations and
management purposes. Reducing the corporate culture gap requires proactive managers and the
resources by a firm to ensure the smooth cultural transition, awareness and actions.
This report aims to study based on Hofstede insights between Algeria and Morocco, on cultural
similarities, differences, and strategies to bridge differences by corporate management.
