Incorporate concepts and examples from this week’s lecture in your post. According to Ogden and Ogden (2014), a buyer undergoes five steps when making a buying decision. These steps are very useful to marketers in reaching their target audience. The steps include: 1. Problem recognition. As I read to understand this assignment, I was able to put a lot of my shopping trends in context. I always get urges to look at reviews of products and looking at known issues, how the issues can be identified and how it can be resolved. Before reading our text, I never knew that something as simple as simple as how the product is marketed could trigger the need for me to recognize problems with the items. 2. Information search. The next step the customer takes is to search for information to identify and analyze information sources (Ogden & Ogden, 2014), using any available medium. 3. Evaluation of alternatives. Of course, as consumers we always look at the options that we have. Whether the brands, the prices, and the capabilities to get the same benefits we are looking for. Sometimes we use all the criteria to evaluate. 4. Purchase decision. Finally we are making the purchase even though the final purchase decision can be influenced by negative feedback from various customers and the degree of motivation to agree with the feedback (Ogden & Ogden, 2014).
