MHA 705 MODULE 1 QUIZ 2022
MHA 705 MODULE 1 QUIZ 2022 *Pay attention to the Assignment Grading Rubric found in the Assignment Resources folder in Getting Started section.** Answer the following assigned questions based on the topics from Chapter 4 from your (Health Information Management : Concepts, Principles, and Practice) book. 1) Why is the healthcare industry perceived as being less proactive than other industries in the area of computerized information systems? How can this perception be changed? The healthcare profession has a reputation for being sluggish to grasp computerized information management and integrate it successfully into the workplace according to William Stead and Nancy Lorenzi. Perhaps this is because the healthcare industry's data and information requirements are more stringent in certain areas than those of other businesses. Hard to fathom trying to operate without computers in healthcare, but it was once done, and now the norm. The healthcare business focuses on providing high-quality health-care services to customers and patients, invests in developing innovative products and technology to make health-care services more accessible, and caters to the local community. It makes the development of computerized information systems a non-core competency in the health-care business. Because the quality of health-care services may not improve, it leads the health-care industry to be less aggressive in its growth. On the other hand, computerized information system provides transparency, electronic documentation, and data exchange, all of which benefit our patients or customers rather than simply being a service provider to them. It also makes the industry less proactive, but this is improving daily with technology advancement and enterprises are settling into this notion as well. We can only change the perception if we realize the amazing benefits of computerized information systems and all of the stress it has eliminated from our everyday duties. Take for example, telemedicine, which has been vital during the pandemic. Thanks to technology, we were able to provide services in remote places, which necessitate the use of a computerized information system for quick diagnosis and maintaining safety for patient and caregiver. The industry of healthcare falls behind every other industrial area when it comes to incorporating new technologies. However, we must really look at the highest advantage of technology in healthcare, “the irresistible drive to adopt improved technology may exacerbate our management of human error” (Thimbleby, 2013). The simple explanation is that things will become better in the future. Technology will continue to progress, and new and fascinating solutions will emerge. Thimbleby H. (2013). Technology and the future of healthcare. Journal of public health research, 2(3), e28. 2) How are the concepts of EDI, e-commerce, and e-health interrelated? These electronic data points all point to the same thing: a commercial transaction. EDI, e-commerce, and e-health may all be used for statistical analysis. EDI is a software and services are used to automate ordering and billing in this form of ecommerce. One of the many ways we're striving to improve the supply chain and help healthcare achieve more with less is through e-commerce. This is a computer-to-computer exchange of business documents in a common electronic format, such as purchase orders and invoices. EDI in ehealth, on the other hand,
