1 GENERAL INFORMATION REGARDING YOUR TEACHING
PRACTICE PERIOD

During the period of teaching practice, all BEd will be required to observe, plan and prepare lessons
and present them in the presence of a senior teacher or a mentor teacher. The blank lesson plan and
assessment forms, included in this tutorial letter, have to be completed during this compulsory 25
days of teaching practice, and submitted no later than the end of August. However, if you complete
your teaching practice period earlier, you may submit them at that stage.


Teaching practice is a compulsory requirement for the Bed programme. Unless this Tutorial Letter
103 (Assignment 50, unique no) containing your lessons and resources have been submitted,
marked and passed the certificate will not be awarded to you.

OBSERVATION GUIDE

Part of the objectives for your teaching practice period is to learn from observing an experienced
teacher. However, observing is not simply watching. You have to be actively involved in observing.
When you are not teaching but observing your mentor teacher, look at the following questions. (Source
