I am presenting my idea to Dr. John Sculley. He is the Managing Partner of Sculley Family
Offices, where in MDLIVE has been developed and continues to foster medical specialty
involvement.

Good Afternoon,
I have just reviewed your MDLIVE website. I am currently a mental health provider in a small
town. I am extremely impressed with the advancement steps your company has taken since
conception. I am inquiring more information into your remote doctor and patient video
conferencing and interactive website your company offers within MDLIVE. I have been looking
for an opportunity to expand my practice and found your site the most appealing. I currently
service adolescents; however, would like to expand my services to adults. My current practice
has set hours of operation, limited availability, and extensive overhead due to my location. I
have reviewed your MDLIVE website and found myself persuaded to seek out a possibility to
join your company. I am fond of the idea of no overhead cost. I currently charge my patients
$250.00 per one hour section, on the other hand by utilizing MDLIVE I can cut patient cost to
$100.00 per one hour section by cutting my overhead. I appreciate the freedom MDLIVE
affords on setting my own hours, this will increase my availability to assist more individuals in
need of mental health assessment and guidance, along with boarding my patient audience.
The concerns I have for this type of mental health service involves the patient safety and my
assessment process. In my current practice I can visually see the patient’s non-verbal actions;
however, during a video conference or interactive website those non-verbal’s could be missed or
hidden from sight. This could lead to the patient causing harm to themselves after the session is
over or not receiving the correct assistance needed. This leads me into my concerns about
conducting initial and reoccurring assessments on the patients. The majority of intelligence and
personality testing encompasses hands-on interaction, if all mental health services are conducted
via patient video conferencing and interactive website can a true evaluation be conducted?
(Luxton, Pruitt & Osenbach, 2014). These question were not answered during your Forbes
Summit Group (2014) conference or on your MDLIVE website. Although the question of ethics
was very clear. This lead me to conduct my own research into the ethical issues that may arise
with psychological assessments via telehealth methods and found no ethical differences, i.e., the
same standards apply whether conducting in-person or telehealth assessments and services (APA,
2016).
I would like the opportunity to become a partner in MDLIVE and expand my current practice,
eventually exiting away from traditional in-person services through the use of your company. I
feel very strongly about providing the best mental health service to those who are in need.
NOTE: I personally do not believe that a true assessment, evaluation, treatment plan, etc., can be
conducted in any other way then in an in-person setting. I feel society has gotten so comfortable
with the non-personal side of technology that they would prefer to hide behind a monitor than be
face to face with the truth. Example: a married couple seeks out an MDLIVE therapist and that
