I. Title
Qualitative Analysis of Group V Cations
II. Objectives
● To confirm the presence of the group V cations using flame tests.
● To determine the characteristics of the cations while undergoing different
processes.
III. Introduction
The Group IV centrifugate contains naturally occurring cations that are not precipitated
by chloride, sulfide, and phosphate ions under the conditions for precipitation of the first
four Groups of the cation. This group, which includes sodium, potassium, and
ammonium ions, is sometimes called the soluble group. With a few exceptions, the salts
of these cations are soluble. This accounts for the fact that there is no precipitating agent
in this group.
IV. Material and Equipments
Reagents Laboratory Apparatus Lab Kit
& Glasswares
Beaker Bond Paper
Clamp/Tongs Gloves
Centrifuge Lab Gown
KOH Test Tube Rack Marker
Conc. HCl Dropper Masking Tape
Test Tube Scissors
Wash Bottle
Casserole
V. Procedure
Identifcation of Sodium and Potassium Ions
