HUMAN RELATIONS AND TECHNOLOGY

Technology cannot be seen as a separate entity from the reality of human life." in
the" human body (medical technology, food technology);" next to" (phone, fax, cellphone,
computer);" outside" (satellite); became a dwelling (air-conditioned room);human hand
extension; or vice versa, man stands for technology (assembly line). The relationship
between man and technology is mutual. Technology is used by man, at the same time he
uses man. The relation of mutualism is complex. Eleuze Guattari refers to the relation as the
Rhizomatic network, which is a branching network so complicated that which cause and
effect becomes unclear. Everything can be both a cause and an effect.
Three great areas in the praxis of modern human life; science, technology, and
culture. These three fields cannot be seen as independent entities. Science is shaped by
technology and culture; technology is shaped by culture and science; Culture is shaped by
science and technology. Each of them forms each other and is shaped by the other. Culture
has become techno-culture, science has become techno-science, and so on.
some definitions of the Information Society according to experts :
- The information society is a society that is exposed to mass media and global
communication, a society that is aware of information and gets sufficient
illumination (Dahlan in Abrar, 2003: 12).
- A new form of society whose process of presence is driven by developments in the
fields of telecommunications, information and computers (Yuliar, et al, 2001: 54)
Technology Dependence Changes Communication Patterns :
Example:
In a family, if each child's room is equipped with complete facilities such as TV,
internet, PS, and others, then communication between the child and other family members
will be reduced, because he prefers to spend time with sophisticated objects he has.
Likewise with children who ask their parents for permission over the phone, it could be that
they avoid face-to-face by their parents because they think the atmosphere is more tense
than talking on the phone.
Hence TECHNOLOGY: THREAT OR OPPORTUNITY?
Technology will continue to evolve and always evolve. The development of
technology is difficult to avoid. Taking advantage of technological developments will make
human life easier and even bring benefits to those who see the gap. Technology that
originally lived in human life can turn into something that regulates human life.
