The questions in this task relate to topics in those six key areas. You are required to do external research for this task. For each of your responses to the following questions, you must provide at least one external reference (including in-text citations in your answers and full reference information at the end of your assignment). Legislation can be complicated to read and understand, so you do not have to cite the actual legislation in your responses unless you actually referred to material from legislation in your response. There are many websites (from governments, industry groups, lawyers, etc.) that explain the ideas in legislation and the implications for business owners. Finally, assume that your restaurant is nonunionized. Question 1 (Ontario Human Rights Code): In your restaurant, you would like to hire workers who come from your ethnic group only. Are you allowed to do this? (explain why or why not, in 2-4 sentences) No. Ontario Human Rights Code states that “The Code prohibits discrimination on several grounds related to race. These include mainly the grounds of colour, ethnic origin, ancestry, place of origin, citizenship and creed (religion).” (“3. Grounds of discrimination”). The code is clear about all kinds of discrimination, and this situation can be a racial discrimination. Question 2 (Employment Standards Act): Your cousin has a young son (aged 14) who would like to work at your restaurant. Are you allowed to hire a 14-year old to work at your restaurant? (explain why or why not, in 2-4 sentences) In conformity with the Ministry of Labour, Training and Skills Development, the minimum age to hire in Ontario is 14-year-old, however, there are some restrictions. In this situation, I can only hire this boy if he will not work in the food preparation area. Also, he cannot work in the same time from school. Therefore, he can be hired to work as a cashier. Question 3 (Occupational Health and Safety Act): It is late July. The air conditioning unit in your kitchen broke yesterday and no longer works. As a result of this, your kitchen cook has refused to work because he says it is too hot and he might faint and fall into the pizza oven (and possi
