• To demonstrate the ability to take and present a thorough
obstetric history

• To demonstrate professionalism and problem-solving skills

• To interact with patients, gaining confidence and mutual
respect

• To demonstrate focused clinical acumen in the
identification of pertinent clinical and psychosocial issues

• To ascertain the key safety issues that arise in a clinical
scenario

, PRACTICAL OBJECTIVES

• To record obstetric histories. Common examples would
cover the following areas:

– Gestational hypertension
– Preterm labour/prelabour preterm rupture of membranes
(PPROM)
– Antepartum haemorrhage
– Fetal growth restriction (single/ multiple gestation)
– Medical disorders in pregnancy (for example diabetes, epilepsy)


• To present histories to tutors and peers

• To record history templates for future reference
