The Vaghela were an Indian dynasty of Gujarat. The Vaghela were based in the town of Dholka .
and were feudatories of the Solanki dynasty, who ruled Gujarat from the 10th to the 13th century.
The solanki went into decline in the 13teen century. and by 1243 the Vaghelas were firmly in cantrol
of Gujarat . Virdhavl was the first Vaghela king. Karan deva was the last Vaghela king, who died in
the 1304 conquest of Gujarat by Ala-ud-din Khilji, Sultan of Delhi

, Ala-Ud-Din Khilji around the end of the 13th century. He ended the rule of Vaghela dynast
under Karna and established Muslim rule in Gujrat. Alp Khan, A Brother-in-law of Ala-ud-din Khilji,
was appointed as the governor of Gujarat. He had governor Gujarat for dew years. at the instigation
of Malik Kafur, he was recalled and put to death by the emperor Ala-ud-din Khilji in 1316

In 1573, Akbar , the emperor of the Mughal Empire Captured Gujarat by defeating
Gujarat Saltant under Muzaffar Shah. Akbar's Foster Brother Mirza Aziz Kokaltash was appointed as
the victory who strengthen Mughal hold over the region. Shah Jahan has also apponited his prince
Aurangzeb, who was involved in religious disputes, Aurangzeb came to the Mughal throne and his
policies resulted in revolts and discontent.
The 25th Sarkar of Gujarat Saltanate were reorganised in 16 Sarkars and others areas were
transferred back to its older provinces. Of this 16 sarkars : nine were under direct control of the
Mughal Empire:
Ahmedabad, Baroda, Chapmpanare Bharuch, Godhra, Patan and Surat .. They were known as
sarkarat-i-kharaji were the Mughal fiscal system of revenue collection was applied. The Mughal
Empire the single trimetalic currency was established but Gujarat continued to use a local silver coin
known as Mahmudi alongside the Mughal Currency.
