Sports Development 2
Sport is provided for you in your local area
and is split into three different sectors
public, private, and voluntary.
These are the three different sectors:
Public sector = Businesses that get funding from the
government and taxpayers. They provide a public
service or product and no private services. An example
of a public sector local to me would be the Harborne
pool and fitness centre.
Private sector = The private sector includes private
businesses that do not get funding from taxpayers or
the government. They built their establishment by
either getting loans from banks or people backing the
, start-up. An example of a private sector would be the
David Lloyds leisure centre.
The voluntary sector = the voluntary sector is an
organization that makes no profit off the money they
receive from donations or other ways of them
receiving income. their set goal is to raise funds for a
specific charity. An example of a charity in sport would
be sport 4 life UK.
Local authorities in Birmingham would be the
Birmingham city council. They would help to provide
funding for facilities for training and clubs. They would
also help to put money into grassroots tournaments.
Governing bodies in sports would be stuff like the FA.
The FA oversees all football clubs and sets rules and
regulations for them to follow. The code of conduct
they set must be followed; otherwise, The FA can shut
you down. But they are overruled by the organization
FIFA, which controls all football and ensures that
professional international matches run accordingly.
