Abstract
Most of the organizations are mostly concerned with their information and data security. At the
same time, the distribution and virtualization of the networks have led to security challenges—
big data analytics help prevent and detect cyberattacks using the organization's internal and
external security data. In the past years, there has been an increase in cybercrime cases, which
emphasizes the need for a solution. The use of data analytics can be a possible solution.
Consequently, it is necessary to discuss the role of big data solution in detecting, avoiding, and
preventing cyber-attacks in cybersecurity (Albright & Winston, 2016). Cybersecurity faces some
challenges like a large volume of data and software scalability. Big data analytics can combat
cybersecurity attacks through identifying anomalies in device behavior, identifying anomalies in
employee and contract behavior, detecting anomalies in the network, and accessing network
vulnerabilities and risks.
Furthermore, according to Janoschek (2016) big data analytics keep up the data volumes and
provide big data solutions in an organization. Organizations should consider using big data
analytics to collect, store, and process data prone to threats. Organizations should strategize the
use of big data analytics to prevent possible breaches and attacks from improving their
performance.
