In this assignment you are expected to identify and discuss the important aetiological factors underlying the presenting problem of a clinical case, applying the 5Ps framework. Choose one of the case studies provided below (Sally/ Dan/Lucy) to complete the following sections: Section 1: 5Ps identification (~500 words) Weigh 35% Complete the 5Ps formulation below for your chosen case. 1.1. Presenting Problem: Provide a brief description of the client’s major presenting difficulties. Mention their diagnosis. 1.2. Predisposing factors: Based on the case description and bearing in mind the client’s diagnosis and presenting problems, identify at least one important biological and social factor in their history which made them vulnerable to developing this problem. Justify the inclusion of each factor by referring to the research literature. 1.3. Precipitating factors: Based on the case description and bearing in mind the client’s diagnosis and presenting problems, identify at least one important biological and social factor in their history which triggered the development of this problem. Justify the inclusion of each factor by referring to the research literature. 1.4. Perpetuating factors: Based on the case description and bearing in mind the client’s diagnosis and presenting problems, identify at least one important biological and social factor in their history which is maintaining this problem. Justify the inclusion of each factor by referring to the research literature. 1.5. Protective factors: Based on the case description, identify the factors which are strengths the client can draw on to suggest a positive prognosis. Section 2: Case theoretical conceptualisation (~500 words) Weight 35% Provide a psychological explanation for how the presenting problems developed using one of the theoretical models listed below: • Psychodynamic • Cognitive-behavioural • Systemic social Clearly identify which model you are using. Section 3: Critical comparison (~500 words) Weight 30% Choose another theoretical model from the list provided above and identify two ways in which it would differ from the model you chose in Section 2, in explaining the development of the presenting problems.
