Naturalism was a late nineteenth century movement in theater, film, art and literature
that seeks to portray common values of the ordinary individual. It suggested the roles of
family, social conditions and environment in shaping human character. The actions taken
and their life and even the decision made by the characters in the text are affected by
these factors.
The play of Bobby Flores Villasis,”Fiesta” is a naturalistic view of human life during
the time of 1960’s in Bayawan town. It portrayed the natural life of the Filipino people
during that time , the kind of culture they have.
Statement of the Problem
1. What are the characteristics of Ines towards her life in the story?
2. What are the tenets of the text in accordance to the character of Ines Regada?
Ines is a self centered woman , not thinking about the feelings of other people whom
she have hurt, even her own daughter. She ruled over her life for 20 years, not letting her
do what she wanted to do, not letting her experience the things that a 20 year old girl
must experience. She ruled over the life of everyone by not letting them celebrate the
town fiesta and not going to church, she have made Manuel and Soling her servants
eventhough she knew to herself that they don’t have anything to pay for because it was all
her doings. There was someone who died because of her but she did not regret it instead
