Physician - Answer: Person with overall responsibility for patient care. Treats
medical conditions effecting the brain, spinal cord, nerves, bones, joints, and
tendons. Treats the whole patient. Focuses on the function of the patient versus
on the nature of the disease
Physiatrist= Rehab Dr.: - Answer: Dr. with special training in Physical Medicine and
Rehabilitation. He/she is the team leader, however, may need to consult with the
attending medical Dr. as needed. The Physiatrist may also have a sub-specialty in
areas such as Brain Injury medicine, Hospice/Palliative Medicine, Pain Medicine,
Pediatric Rehabilitation, and Spinal Cord Injury.
Rehab Nurse: - Answer: administers medication and instructs patients and family
members in care management, which may include hydration and elimination, skin
management, safety, and health maintenance regimens
