It consists of England, Scotland and Wales.

The British Isles is the total of islands in and around UK and the Republic of Ireland.

1. Balmoral
= Castle in Scotland that the British royal family often use for their summer holidays
2. The Garden of England
= name for the county of Kent in southeast England, because of the fruit and vegetables it produces.
3. Land’s End
= place on the southwest coast of England, which is generally thought of as the furthest point in the
southwest of the UK.
It is used in the phrase 'from John O'Groats to ...‘, because John O'Groats is thought
of as the furthest point in the northeast of the UK
4. The Pennines
= range of hills in a line down the middle of England from the Scottish border to
central England, which are sometimes called the "backbone of England"
The lake District is the most famous and most beautiful part of The Pennines
Its beauty inspired two of the most important poets in English literature, William Wordsworth and
Samuel Taylor Coleridge
