CH 1 CROP PRODUCTION AND

When plants of same kind are cultivated at
one place on a large scale it is called CROP.
Tools like KHURPI, SICKLE, SHOVEL, PLOUGH
are used for farming
There are two broad cropping patterns that
are:
1.KHARIF CROPS – The crops which are
sown in the rainy season are called Kharif
crops. The rainy season in India is
generally from June to September. Some
examples are paddy, maize, soyabean,
groundnut and cotton.
2.RABI CROP – The crops grown in the
winter season (October to March) are
called rabi crops. Some examples are
wheat, gram, pea, mustard and linseed.
