ASSESSMENT CRITERIA:
Assignments will be given a mark out of 30 in accordance with the following assessment
criteria:
• Identification and analysis of the relevant legal issues and principles;
• Demonstrated understanding of the relevant cases;
• Clear exposition and analysis of the relevant law;
• Appropriate application of the law to the facts;
• Demonstrated understanding of the policy considerations which underpin the law;
• Identification and analysis of relevant primary and secondary materials;
• Clear and concise written expression;
• Logical and cogent presentation of ideas;
• Effective organisation and structure, including appropriate use of sub-headings;
• Quality of evidence, reasoning, illustrations and examples;
• Quality of presentation, including correct grammar and spelling;
• Strict adherence to the School of Law’s policy on acknowledgment practice including
appropriate and accurate acknowledgment of sources, referenced in accordance with the
Australian Guide to Legal Citation (Melbourne University Law Review, 3rd ed, 2010);
• Conformity with format and page length specifications.
NOTE: This is an individual assignment. Your answer to this assignment must be entirely
